That’s in the Township of North Glengarry, in the United Counties of Stormont, Dundas and Glengarry. It’s a forested area between Ottawa, Montréal, and Cornwall, in rural southeastern Ontario.
The address on the MLS listing says North Glengarry not Apple Hill. But it’s the same property.

Until recently, if you wanted to live in this area you had to be willing to accept that your internet service would be slow and unreliable.
That all changed when Starlink became available a few years ago. For the first time, people could live in the forest practically off-grid, and yet still stream, zoom, and play video games, just like in a city.

It’s upland cedar groves, tamarack stands, and mixed hardwood forest interspersed with open meadows and wetland. Toward the house, the soil is rich Melanic Brunisol loam; toward the lake, it’s Grenville Loam.

The land is enrolled in Ontario’s Managed Forest Tax Incentive Program (MFTIP) and Conservation Land Tax Incentive Program (CLTIP), which provide substantial property tax reductions. The plans are non-prescriptive and don’t restrict personal use.

The area was first inhabited by the St. Lawrence Iroquoians and later by the Mohawks (Kanien’kehá:ka).
In the 1600s French settlers arrived, making it one of the earliest colonized regions in what’s now called Canada. After the British took control in 1763, it became part of Upper Canada.
Today, it reflects a rich blend of French, Scottish, Loyalist, and Indigenous histories and cultures.
